    We’re looking for a Junior Product Developer to join ourInnovation Team on a 1-year industrial placement from August 2024 based at either location to suit personal circumstances.

    In our rapidly growing business, we are looking for a fledgling product development enthusiast, who’s looking to kick start their career within Food Design & Innovation.

    The Role

    Coached by your Manager, and with plenty of training, you will be responsible for supporting the Innovation team in both new and existing product development. You will need to be in either the London office, our Development Kitchen in Kentish Town or at our manufacturing site in Nuneaton – sometimes you’ll be visiting suppliers and events too! You will be expected to do some travelling between sites but the rail connections are good (travel expenses will be covered) and be able to work from home on occasion.

    • You plan and organise your own time, hit deadlines, and communicate well.
    • You will be in real-world business situations, expect to get stuck in without reservation, and embrace the WARP culture and values!

    Key Responsibilities

    This is a hands-on, physical role – expect to get those hands dirty! You’ll be fetching and carrying cases of product and doing plenty of sampling & taste panels with the rest of the team. You’ll be expected to dress in the appropriate protective clothing and adhere to food production standards within our manufacturing site.

    You’ll gain exposure and experience in all aspects of product design:

    • Ideation – working with brand teams and Innovation – there’ll be trends, competitor reviews, consumer insights, category data to get stuck into
    • Prototyping – producing new snacks in our Development Kitchen – briefing suppliers, popping corn, frying snacks, seasoning those tasty samples
    • Scaling-Up – working with the developers to plan trials and support the work to produce at scale in our Snacktory in Nuneaton
    • Validating – making sure our new creations can be produced safely and consistently by our movers and makers to meet our customer expectations
    • Testing – setting up shelf-life testing, analysis, data collection and interpretation, running taste panels and creating reports
    • Baseline – you’ll ensure that our facilities are in tip-top condition, clean and well stocked with everything needed to create next-generation snacks!

    Requirements

    • You’re on a trajectory to a degree-level qualification in Food Science/ Food Technology/ Food Manufacturing/ Chemical Engineering, at a minimum 2.1 grade or equivalent
    • You’re positive, proactive, and relentless, able to get stuff done with a flexible, can-do attitude
    • We need a Team player - working within the Innovation team and collaborating across the WARP sites to achieve project goals
    • And those excellent communication skills are a must, verbal confidence combined with the ability to be concise in writing trial / practical reports
    • Familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of tools, with particular skills in Excel
    • Oh yes and a love of snacking – passionate about food and with a discerning palate for product tasting!
