    About the role

    When you join the Bid Management Trainee programme, you’ll be working alongside our Bid Management team, learning about commercial aspects of the industry and helping with administrative processes that relate to bidding for projects and winning work. You’ll be exposed to different functions as you gain the relevant knowledge you’ll need to assist the team prepare and write responses for bids, and experience a project’s life cycle. Using Microsoft and Adobe applications to compile electronic submissions, and understanding how e-portals and other submission methods work, you’ll ensure the necessary steps and reviews are planned prior to submission.

    Your additional tasks will include helping to build a bid winning strategy, identifying the customer’s key requirements and concerns, and keeping documents up to date with relevant content such as case studies, evidence and CVs. You’ll also manage a responsibility matrix for each bid over the pre-construction phase to manage the team and workload effectively, produce customer-focused responses and strategies for bid submissions, and work with colleagues to build networks that support information gathering.

    About you

    To be a success on the programme you’ll enjoy learning new things, have a curious nature, be a superb communicator and you won’t be afraid to ask questions. Organised, reliable and professional, and a problem solver with the ability to think logically, you’ll have the initiative to start and complete tasks. It’s important that you possess good time management skills, are able to prioritise your work to meet agreed deadlines and hold a full UK driving licence. You’ll have obtained or be working towards a 2:2 degree in any subject, and you should also have a grade 4/C in Maths and English GCSE.

    Please be aware that you should be willing to commute for up to an hour a day around the location you apply for. This location can change if you’re assigned to a new site, and as Wates don’t support relocation, you should be comfortable that you can meet this requirement.
