Wedlake Bell, a prestigious law firm located in the bustling heart of the City of London, is looking for a motivated and meticulous Junior Accounts Assistant to become a valued member of our Accounts & Finance Team. This is a newly created, permanent role.
As a Junior Accounts Assistant, you will work closely with our Financial Controller, WIP Controller, and Credit Controller, supporting them in the efficient execution of accounting functions.
The main responsibilities of the Junior Accounts Assistant are supporting with WIP (Work in Progress), ensuring matters are closed, maintaining up-to-date financial records, assisting with credit control and banking. You will also be expected to assist the various members of our Accounts Team with any ad hoc tasks or enquiries. A positive, can-do attitude and solid communication skills are a must for this role.

Key responsibilities
- Assist with the Work in Progress (WIP) cycle, such as providing breakdowns and writing off for Partners and Fee Earners;
- Conduct housekeeping on client matters, ensuring that they are closed through either bulk uploading or individual uploads;
- Update FE, MP, and CP;
- Maintaining organised and up-to-date notes relating to clients and matters, including residual balance;
- Assist with credit control;
- Assist with the Banking process;
- Undertake ad hoc requests from various members of the Accounts Team, specifically the Financial Controller, WIP Controller, and Credit Controller; and
- Collaborate with other team members to improve financial processes and efficiency.
Candidate attributes
- A significant interest in pursuing a career in Accounts & Finance within the legal industry;
- Ideally (but not essential) prior experience in Accounting or Administration;
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail;
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively under pressure;
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills; and
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
