This is a great time to join our Planning Control Team here in West Norfolk. Our team is expanding, creating opportunities at all levels including positions at entry level which are supported by training and a career progression scheme and vacancies for existing planners who are looking for a fresh challenge.
We are a large Borough with diverse landscapes ranging from the Norfolk Coast AONB in the north, to the Fens and the Brecks in the South. This gives our employees the opportunity to gain experience with rural issues, coastal planning, urban regeneration and major developments proposed within our towns– all in one area! As part of this you will help balance the new growth planned for the area with the preservation of the Borough’s unique environment and heritage. As well as being a great place to work, west Norfolk provides a beautiful environment in which to live with the council offices based in King’s Lynn, a medieval town and port with an outstanding conservation area.
The role
Your role will involve dealing with a wide range of planning issues and related applications, including urban, rural and coastal planning. With excellent communication and customer-care skills, you will take responsibility for effective negotiation and resolution, ultimately achieving high quality development which supports growth and regeneration, whilst protecting the unique environment and historic character of the borough.
As a Graduate Planner, you will either be undertaking a formal planning qualification alongside gaining relevant experience, or you will be fully qualified with limited experience. You will also join our career progression scheme to provide you with the opportunity to progress to Planner level and, in time, to become a Senior Planner.
If you would like to join our team in any of these roles, we would like to hear from you. In return we can offer you excellent training and development, payment of RTPI professional membership fees, performance related pay, a generous annual leave entitlement which includes an office closure between Christmas and New Year, membership of the local government pension scheme; and flexible/hybrid working opportunities. If your current salary is already close to the amount advertised we have some flexibility for an exceptional candidate who closely matches our requirements.
