    We have a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join our Seasonal team, based in our High Street Head Office in Swindon.

    The role

    The main purpose of this role is to determine the customer offer and manage the trading plan across multiple card categories.

    The role requires an organised individual, capable of managing complex information and supporting the team in all areas of trading. A head for numbers is essential to the role, together with a creative thinker both in coming up with new ideas and selecting designs.

    The accountabilities of the role

    • Trading responsibility for the Seasonal categories within the trading team
    • Select and develop profitable new products and ranges
    • Generating new ideas on how to grow YOY Sales, margin and income, and meet annual budget targets
    • Building up strong relationships with suppliers to deliver effective and profitable plans
    • Working closely with the supply chain teams to ensure in store availability is optimised
    • Able to deliver meaningful reports and cut through the information / detail in order to get to the real issue
    • Keeping abreast of market trends and competitor activity in a fast-paced environment, to help identify new opportunities as well as changes to our existing offering
    • Working closely with other areas of the business including Operations, Business Development, Marketing and the Finance team

    About you

    • Experience within a retail Buying role
    • Confident and approachable
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Enthusiastic and excited about the product
    • Able to work across teams (merchandising, marketing, operations etc)
    • Net understanding of business (i.e. buying and stock)
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Uses creative thought process – on product, promotions, displays, deals etc
    • Excellent numerical capability
    • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and functions such as Vlookups and Pivot Tables
    • Remains calm under pressure
    • Educated to degree standard or equivalent
