As a business we're growing, and our national Property Disputes practice are contributing to that through some exciting new client wins. We now have an opportunity for Lawyer to join the team in Southampton.

What will you be doing

Our practice is one of the largest nationally and is expanding. We have an enviable client list, made up of landlords and tenants (with national portfolios), developers and investors, ranging from significant public sector bodies to FTSE 250 household names across a range of sectors including telecoms, retail, energy and central and local government and transport and infrastructure.

You'll play an important role in helping us grow, assisting in a wide range of contentious commercial property matters, including telecoms, landlord and tenant (e.g. 1954 Act renewals, dilapidations and break notices) and general property issues such as adverse possession, easements and title disputes. The team is extremely busy so you'll be able to get stuck into great quality client work from the get go. The Property Disputes Team works very closely with our transactional Real Estate team so you'll also have the opportunity to develop strong ties across the practice where you'll be supported by a tight knit, friendly team with a collegiate approach and a firm wide commitment to development.

What does the ideal candidate look like

Most importantly you will have a genuine enthusiasm for this area of law and the aspiration to deliver a first class service to our clients.

You'll need strong academic ability, a thorough approach to complex legal analysis with swift assimilation of complicated sets of facts. Your written advice will be fluent and concise and your high level of commerciality will enable you to address the client's overall objectives. Strong interpersonal skills will give you the ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with the different interests of our clients.

As important will be the ability to work with and alongside a range of colleagues, across locations, as some of the work we deal with involves multi-disciplinary teams. This is an exciting time to join this team and the role offers an unrivalled opportunity to learn from the best and to develop a career in a growing specialism.

To be successful in this role you'll need as a minimum

  • At least 1 year of post qualified experience in the property litigation space as a UK (England, Wales or Scotland) Solicitor
  • In depth knowledge of Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 renewals (both unopposed and opposed) ideally in the context of managing a large property portfolio
  • A strong financial track record
