    Wood is recruiting a Year in Industry placement to join our civil engineering team in Reading in September 2024.

    During your placement at Wood, you will join a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible, to seek the best solutions for our clients.

    Assuming the placement is a success, Wood will fund your final year University fees and offer a spot on our much-coveted Graduate program, sending you into your final year of study with a bright future secured.

    During your placement, you will have exposure to different parts of the business gaining vital skills. In addition to conventional sectors, you can expect to become involved in:

    • Carbon Capture: Industrial clusters, concept development to detailed engineering.
    • Hydrogen: blue hydrogen (w/CCS), green hydrogen, ammonia/hydrogen economy innovation.
    • Future of hydrocarbons: adapting existing facilities and designing ambitious new projects, to produce the next generation of lower carbon fuels and chemicals.

    Who we are looking for

    We are looking for high-achieving, 2nd year undergraduates with a desire to learn. The ideal candidate should be working towards a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and enjoy problem solving, troubleshooting, detailed analysis, be willing to embrace new ideas, and most importantly; take on assignments where the approach or solution isn’t known at the outset.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Working toward a master’s degree in civil engineering
    • Enthusiasm to work and develop your understanding in Civil Engineering
    • Comfortable with technological advance and agile working
    • Demonstrate initiative, tenacity and excellent communication skills
    • Possess an ability to learn quickly and be adaptable and flexible to match business requirements
