The position is based at our Canary Wharf office, One Canada Square, London. The role has a geographical remit covering UK and West Mediterranean – very occasional travel within the UK may be required.
About the role
This is an entry level role providing a good opportunity to commence a career in the commodities sector. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
The Transactions Analyst ensures supply and trading activity remains unaffected by financial related issues. This will be achieved by ensuring invoices - both receivables and payables - are accurate and issued or paid in a timely manner.
Cross checking pricing indexes and periods and communicating discrepancies ensures the transaction process is streamlined and improved. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance coordination between departments and counterparties is an important element of the role. The objective is to become primary point of contact for all invoicing queries in relation to supply and trading.
Principal responsibilities
- Cross check supplier invoice calculations against contractual terms and pricing formulas
- Dispute invoices where necessary, offering clear calculations to support claims
- Actualise trades in the Trade Management System (CXL Triplepoint)
- Raise purchase orders to the Payables team advising payment deadline
- Raise invoices: accurately process pricing and quantity information to ensure receivables are received in a timely manner Follow up with relevant parties to ensure payment has been made or received as due date approaches
- Liaise with customs agents to ensure necessary import customs docs are created
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to develop rapport between departments and counterparties
- Liaise closely with trader and operations team to check calculations where necessary and advise of any issues
Candidate specification
- Bachelor’s degree essential.
- An energetic self-starter who is not deterred by fast paced and dynamic working conditions.
- An interest in commodities trading, and a basic understanding of price indexes preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential; the successful candidate will be able to interact confidently and build relationships effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills are essential. The successful candidate will be task-oriented and able to work within set timeframes
