Graduate Control & Instrumentation Engineer
We have opportunities for Graduate Control & Instrumentation Engineers to join us in our UK Teams. We are currently recruiting for the following locations: Aberdeen, Glasgow, London and Manchester.
The Graduate Control & Instrumentation Engineer will work as part of multidiscipline team on a project, contributing to ensuring the quality and timely delivery of C&I deliverables.
As a graduate under the supervision and mentorship within our team, you will assist in the delivery of engineering services to Worley and our customers. You will perform a variety of assignments through the application of basic engineering theories, techniques, and practices. You will be trained in the utilisation of relevant regulations, codes, standards, and industry standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables while gaining exposure to procedures and processes.
As a Graduate C&I Engineer you will have the opportunity to work on projects and proposals for process plants and facilities across the Chemical; Oil & Gas; and Power and Energy Transition/ New Energy sectors. You will be involved in UK and International projects with opportunities for site assignments and global travel / international assignments to help you build up in-depth knowledge and experience.
You’ll be
- Involved in all stages of projects from Conceptual studies, Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED), Detailed Design through to Construction and Commissioning
- Working closely with Senior C&I Engineers to design and develop Control and Instrumentation systems and assist in producing deliverables in accordance with Clients and Project requirements, specifications and procedures
- Assisting in the selection of appropriate sensors, transmitters, control valves and other instrumentation components for specific applications
- Using Smart Instrumentation (SPI) software to generate C&I deliverables such as Instrument Index, I/O list, wiring and loop diagrams, lists and schedules as well as instrument data sheets and other instrumentation deliverables
- Ensuring that the instrumentation and control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Ensuring Safety compliance by participating in Safety Reviews (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, etc) and assisting Functional Safety Engineers in verifying that control systems comply with industry-specific safety standards, such as SIL (Safety Integrity Level) requirements
- Supporting Automation Engineers with implementation of Cybersecurity measures to safeguard the control systems against potential threats and vulnerabilities, adhering to industry best practices and standards
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, process, mechanical, piping and safety engineers to integrate instrumentation and control systems with overall processes.
- Liaising with subcontractors, vendors and Clients
- Assisting in managing project budgets, including cost estimation and tracking
You’ll have
- You will be in your final year of study of an accredited bachelor’s or master’s level degree or have graduated within the past 3 years from any of the following disciplines: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial Measurement and Control or a related discipline
- You will be looking to achieve registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Measurement and Control (MInstMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) in the future
