Your new role whats involved
We are seeking an Assistant Engineer to be based out of our Exeter office.
- Assisting with and developing of Traffic Management Schemes
- Liaising with clients and members of the public
- Researching and investigating traffic regulations including the applying of relevant sections of the national standards
- Acting as a key member of the team supporting on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients
- Preparing and reviewing reports, drawings, schedules and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance
- Working collaboratively with the Liveable Places team, our colleagues in transport and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives
- Previous traffic engineering experience is desirable but not essential
Your Team
Liveable Places is a new offer from WSP and is now in its second year for 2023. We work with a wide range of local authority & private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place making ambitions. We deliver a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery that include public realm, traffic engineering, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian / traffic modelling, active travel, parking, and transport planning. We have a close working relationship with Devon County Council and we have had recent key successes with West Sussex County Council, Hampshire County Council, Westminster City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, Leeds City Council, West of England Combined Authorities and many, many more.
The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 100 staff currently making up the team with significant growth planned. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what they do. We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support its growth going forward.
Wed love to hear from you if you have
- Good spoken and written communication skills. With the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
- Transport, traffic signals, road safety or highway engineering experience (desirable)
- A civil engineering, transport planning degree or equivalent (desirable)
- Working towards corporate membership of an appropriate professional institution
- The ability to prioritise, to achieve deadlines and to work with minimal supervision
