Your new role, what's involved?
The role of a Product Stewardship Consultant combines technical scientific skills with project management and client facing responsibilities in a non-laboratory environment.
Team members work on a range of projects in a number of different fields including industrial chemicals, cosmetics, supply chain and safety assessments. Activities performed by a Graduate Product Stewardship Consultant will include:
- Interpreting and inputting study reports into chemical registration dossiers for submission to regulatory authorities
- Supporting reviews of chemical analytical and spectral reports to confirm substance identity
- Providing input to project reports for clients
- Contributing to regulatory risk assessment using specialist software
- Virtual and in-person meetings with clients to give project updates and discuss project details
Current (2021/2022) Graduates are working on the following projects:
- New REACH registrations of chemical substances
- Preparing safety data sheets for substances and mixtures
- Supporting reviews of cosmetic product labels for compliance
- Contributing to supply chain analysis
We'd love to hear from you if you have
- You’ll be graduating in 2023 or you may have recently graduated with at least a 2:2 in a chemistry or related field, i.e. toxicology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, pharmacology, or an environmental science;
- You'll be looking to start work in September 2023 or April 2024
- You’ll ideally have less than 1.5 years relevant experience
- You’ll be passionate with the curiosity and creativity to solve problems
- You’ll want to stretch and inspire us, speaking up about any new ideas you have
- You’ll want to throw yourself in from day one and put your studies into practice
- You’ll have excellent communication skills
- You’ll enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues
- You’ll have confidence to work under pressure with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively
- Good understanding of chemistry and including analytical techniques
- Excellent communication skills, via email, phone and in person
- Organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and plan effectively
- Good numeracy skills
- Detail oriented approach to problem solving and data interpretation
- Competence in standard software packages, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
