    Here at Yorkshire Building Society, an opportunity has opened to join our Data Engineering Team.

    As our next Junior Data Test Engineer, you will have the opportunity to join a like-minded team in our Leeds based Data Technical Solutions function.

    We are looking for candidates who are passionate about data and are keen to learn new skills as they advance their career.

    This is a hybrid role; with some onsite presence in our central Leeds office. You will need to be able to commute to the office as required.

    What you'll do

    • You'll embark on a training journey that will teach you the core skills needed to be a Data Test Engineer as you work towards your ISQTB Foundation Certificate in Testing
    • Ensure that new and amended systems, together with any interfaces, perform as specified. You’ll design and execute appropriate test coverage to mitigate any product risks.
    • Ensure ETL routines work as expected and API integration are fit for purpose.
    • Complete test case design, build and execution using manual and automated techniques.
    • Ensure compliance with testing best practice standards and procedures within Data and conform to IT standards.
    • Highlight shortcomings in the quality of deliverables impacting testing and raising issues, risks and mitigation strategies.
    • Create an ethos of continual improvement in order to mature testing skills.
    • Promote the use of testing on all changes and encourage the move towards collaborative ways of working.
    • Create reusable test data packs to enable testing to become more automated

    What you'll need

    We’re looking for someone who can exhibit some good skills in analysis, has good technical or business skills and has strong attention to detail:

    • An excellent level of understanding of the need and purpose of testing within a project and small change environment involving Data
    • The ability to work collaboratively as a team to problem solve and effectively deliver to demanding timescales
    • An interest in software development practices and the development lifecycle
    • A background of working or studying in Data
