Graduate insight into securing an internship with WTW - Top tips from Alistair

Created on 17 Apr 2018

Congratulations to Alistair Grant who has secured an internship with WTW. Here he shares his experience of the interview process and even offers some advice.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

WTW is one of the big three Investment Consulting firms; the size of the firm allows it to offer a comprehensive and rigorous internship (and later, a graduate training programme) which makes it an excellent place to start a career. Investment Consulting appealed to me because I can take a personal view on markets, investment opportunities and even individual fund managers whilst also having the opportunity to do a lot of face-to-face work meeting clients.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The video interview was difficult, perhaps more so than the face to face interview; speaking and articulating yourself in front of a laptop is slightly unnerving. However with practice, it becomes much easier.

I really enjoyed the fact finding exercise on the assessment day. I thought the exercise allowed me to demonstrate my skills in a business environment.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

1. Apply as soon as applications are open.

2. Have examples of key behaviours required by the role to talk about at interview.

3. Be enthusiastic and polite to everyone you interact with during the application process.
