Graduate insight into securing a vacation scheme with HSBC

Created on 26 Apr 2018

A huge congratulations to Georgia for securing a vacation scheme with HSBC. Here she gives us some great insights and offers some advice to future applicants.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

The firm has a really good reputation of being friendly and caring. Trading appealed to me because it has such a wide scope and covered so many topics and areas.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The toughest part was the role playing presentations, as you were put on the spot. My favourite part was the spring week itself- I’d recommend anyone to try do it.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

How many steps there were. I had an online assessment, a phone interview, an in person conversion interview at the spring week and an assessment centre!

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

  1. Be engaged on spring weeks and in interview, they want to see that you’re learning!
  2. Do as much research as possible- you never know what come up.
  3. If you don’t know the answer to an interview question, explain what you’re thinking and then say you’re not 100% sure and ask what they think.

What was the toughest question you faced at interview?

Would the reaction to a rate hike be different if it was expected. Why?
