We recently caught up with Tosin about securing a role with Rockborne, their top tips for the application process and how Bright Network helped them secure the role.
What stood out to you about Rockborne?
Rockborne really grabbed my attention as a start-up that are big advocates for diversity and inclusion in the data space. They also included upfront, fully paid for training lasting 12 weeks, whilst earning while doing the course. Also setting me up with high-end clients at the end for deployment. Those aspects really attracted me to the role.
What would be your top tip to members going through the application process?
Get involved with a lot of the initiatives that are going on at the moment, such as hackathons, code for girls. Really great courses that are free and you can enrol in. To upskill you and feel confident at pursuing something that might not have stood out as a career initially.
How did Bright Network help you secure this role?
The resources around interview preparation really helped. Such as the free psychometric tests. They really helped me feel more confident in my ability. I also attended some Bright Network in person events and took part in a few Bright Network Academy courses. They really helped me feel confident enough to pursue a role straight out of university.
What top three tips would you give Bright Network members looking to follow in your footsteps?
- Be authentic to who you are.
- Don’t undersell yourself to the employer.
- Utilise the resources you can to upskill yourself.
