Event Agenda

Event timeline. For a more detailed agenda, please see below. Please note that timings may be subject to minor changes. 

We encourage you to join the main sessions in the auditorium.

The event will take the following format: 

Tuesday 27th March from 9.00-17.00 OR Wednesday 28th March 7.30 - 9.00: Sponsor Stand Set-up. As part of your sponsorship package you benefit from an exhibition space that allows for up to two pull-up banners in the main exhibition area. Bright Network will provide each sponsor 1 trestle table and 2 chairs.

We highly suggestthat you have your stand and promotional items/brochures sent by Tuesday 27th March due to the very small window available on Wednesday morning for delivery and set-up before the event begins.

Please note you will only be required to have (up to five) firm representatives at your stand from 11.00/11.15am onwards. Please have your stand and promotional items/brochures (we suggest 275 items) delivered to the venue address listed above, clearly labelled with your firm name and Bright Network - our team will be on hand to assist with your stand. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for pull-up stands.

9.30 - 10.15:Research Briefing (Premier and Platinum Sponsors).  Bright Network invites the lead representative from each of the Premier and Platnimum sponsor firms to join us before the day starts for a roundtable discussion about our research on this subject and to discuss the findings of our pre-event survey, which will include a question posed to the attendees by each of our partner firms

10.00 - 10.30: Student Arrival & Registration. Students will be arriving from 10.00am and will move directly into the auditorium to be welcomed by Bright Network.

10.30 - 11.00: Welcome & Premier Sponsor Keynote Speech. Our Premier Sponsor will deliver a keynote speech to the students.

11.00 - 11:30: BN Alumni Success Stories. Bright Network alums will provide their path to success.

11.30 - 12:15: Open Networking. This will be your firm's opportunity to meet and have meaningful conversations with the attendees.

12.15 - 13.15:Skills Sessions (Premier and Platinum Sponsors). There will be 3 sessions, each 15 minutes long, that are running concurrently. These will be presented by the Premier and Platinum Sponsors on topics such as How To Build Your Network, CV Top Tips, Assessment Centre Skills, Building Your Personal Brand, Interviewing Skills and Commercial Awareness. All of the students will be split into 1 of the 3 sessions to start at; however, they will attend all 3 sessions during the 1 hour time slot. Please note to keep to time, the presenters will be moving from room to room during the sessions, with the students staying in the same room for the duration of the session.

12.15 - 13.15:Client Lunch. To ensure your reps have the opportunity to eat before students come out from the skills session for lunch and networking, we will have lunch provided at this time. If your rep is presenting the skills session, there will still be lunch available after the session.

13.15 - 14.00: Lunch + Networking.  This will be served in the exhibition area and available for both students and clients who were unable to eat during the earlier lunch time. Feel free to continue networking with students.

14.00 - 15:00: Open Networking. The networking continues in the same format as above.

15.00 - 16.00: Skills Sessions. There will be 3 sessions, each 15 minutes long, that are running concurrently. These will be presented by the Premier and Platinum Sponsors on topics such as How To Build Your Network, CV Top Tips, Assessment Centre Skills, Building Your Personal Brand, Interviewing Skills and Commercial Awareness. 16.00 - 17:00: Panel Session: ‘Why Diversity Matters’ (Premier, Platinum, Gold Sponsor Panellists). The Premier Sponsor along with each Platinum and Gold Sponsor will have a panel place. Your panellist will be joined by four other panellists.

Panel objective: To showcase your organisation’s diversity initiatives to 70 of the brightest undergraduates. This will be an opportunity to inspire the audience by sharing top tips and educate them about the different career paths to success 

Please ask your panellist to arrive by 15.45am for a pre-panel briefing with the other panellists. They will be collected from reception by one of the Bright Network team

Please supply a headshot (JPEG and min. resolution 500x500px) and a 100-word third-person biography including job title of your panellist by Monday 19th February 2018 to Vivian Wadler, Senior Events Manager - vivian@brightnetwork.co.uk  / 0203 011 1624

The panel session will consist of a two-minute introduction by each panellist and an overview of their career journey thus far, followed by 30 minutes of hosted panel questions. Then, there will be a 20-minute Q&A with the audience. This is an opportunity for our members to ask questions and learn more about your panellist, your organisation and how to get ahead. 

17.00 - 17.15: Tea & Coffee Break. This will be in the exhibition area. 

17.15 - 17.30:Awards Ceremony & Wrap-Up (Premier and Platinum Sponsors). There will be an award ceremony hosted in the auditorium at the end of the day to recognise outstanding students. The Premier and Platinum Sponsors will be sponsoring and presenting one award, however all sponsors are very welcome to stay for the award ceremony

Please have a representative present for the award ceremony. Awards will be allocated to Premium and Platinum Sponsors on a first-come, first-served basis and we ask each Premium Platinum Sponsor to pick their top three awards from the list below. 

EY Commercial Awareness Award. The winner of this award has shown superb commercial awareness in their career to date and the potential to achieve outstanding results in whichever commercial field they decide to pursue.

Teach First Community Champion Award. The winner of this award has made a real impact in a community – either by volunteering abroad, working with a community organisation or taking part in a local project. They demonstrate a dedication and passion to their chosen cause

AIG Embracing Culture Award. The winner of this award has proactively sought experiences in different cultures and embraces diversity. They thrive when faced with new challenges and can adapt to new ways of working.

Capital One Leadership Award. The winner of this award has demonstrated exceptional leadership ability – professionally, academically or in their extracurricular activities

Osborne Clark Outstanding Achievement Award. The winner of this award has achieved something outstanding – professionally, academically or in their extracurricular activities

Bright Network's Diversity & Inclusion Conference is an all-day event of inspirational and aspirational content, which gives you a platform to empower and engage with 200+ pre-screened undergraduates from diverse groups. Student Background

All students attending the event will have passed a competitive selection process to gain a place at the conference. Student profiles on the day will be as follows:

To ensure we have selected a range of diverse members we used the following methods to assess applicants: academic attainment at school and university, home postcode data, Polar 4 data, and demonstration of extracurricular activities beyond academia. All attendees have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship and/or a visa.
