Beth: An Insight into Marketing

Hear from Beth about their journey within Marketing in P&G.

Starting and Current job title: Pamper Brand Manager

A huge part of the reason I applied to P&G was to be in a job where I could have an impact with the work I was doing, both within the organisation and outside the organisation as a force for good. When I joined P&G, I was given the local delivery brand manager role on Pampers, a 10-billion-dollar brand, with responsibility for our mainline and wipes business. From Day 1, I had complete ownership over my parts of the business despite a very challenging marketplace with an abundance of competing brands and the consistent decline of UK birth rates.

A highlight of my role so far has been leading the #PampersForPreemies campaign which involves Pampers donating our smallest nappies for premature babies to neonatal units. I lead all elements of execution including agency coordination, working with our charity partner Bliss, in store activations for three of the top UK grocers, and asset localisation. Reading consumer responses about their stories of prematurity and their positive thoughts of the #PampersForPreemies campaign was amazing! This project not only exceeded my expectations in terms of the responsibility I would have from Day 1, but also the power our brands have to be a force for good.

However, none of the above would have been possible without the strong learning culture within P&G which is embodied in the supportive team environment and the incredible training calendar. I have attended a wide variety of trainings, covering topics from strategic business writing to how to work effectively with your sales counterparts, all of which directly enabled me to improve my day-to-day performance. For example, working more closely with my sales team helped us partner with three retailers on the preemie campaign versus just one retailer the prior year– making the campaign bigger than ever before!

Looking back over the past year, I feel really proud of the impact I have had within a top global FMCG company and the challenges I have been given the responsibility to overcome – all with the support of an amazing team! It has been a steep but incredible learning curve so far and I can’t wait to continue progressing along it!
