Role - SAP business Process Owner

I studied Chemical engineering at university, but when it came to applying for jobs, I knew a normal engineering role was not something I wanted to apply for. I did a placement at a nuclear site and the key take away, for me, was the want to work with large groups of people across different functions in a fast-paced environment. The graduate scheme ticked these boxes as it provided the opportunity to work across multiple disciplines, as well as providing real responsibility and challenges.

In terms of the recruitment process, I remember being invited to an assessment centre which took place in Dublin. The day consisted of a presentation, competency questions and a group exercise. While being a tough process, what I liked about it was that it wasn’t technically focussed. Instead focussed on behaviours to ensure candidates were a match to the culture and values of the business.

I started the scheme as an operations grad in the Hyde site but was also provided the opportunity to move into different functions - such as technical and supply chain. After the scheme finished, I have predominately worked in supply chain across different sites until recently moving into an IT project management role.
