UBS is a client-focused business and our employees are the key to our success. We strive to be a good employer, investing in our employees and continuously improving the way we manage our global workforce in order to attract, develop and retain top talent.

A global bank

We have a truly global workforce, with 890 offices in 56 countries around the globe. In 2013, approximately 36% of our staff was employed in Switzerland, 35% in the Americas, 17% in the rest of Europe, the Middle East and Africa and 12% in Asia Pacific. Our employees hailed from 144 countries and together speak more than 137 languages.

Inclusive work environment

In all our businesses and regions, we seek to hire and retain a broad and diverse range of talent. We also seek to further strengthen our inclusive work environment that encourages all employees' development and enhances client relationships. We're committed to equal employment opportunity and believe that having the right people, in the right roles, at the right time, is a key factor in delivering excellence to our clients now while building capabilities for future needs.

Job flexibility

We support our employees in changing jobs within UBS because it's a good investment for all of us. A mobile workforce enables employees to develop relationships across business divisions, regions and cultures, increases trust and helps us to better leverage our employees' skills. It also helps ensure that we have the right people in the right roles in order to meet our clients' needs. One measure of our commitment is the number of people who transfer to another business division or region.

In 2013, we transferred 1,105 employees to roles in a different business division compared, and 405 employees transferred to roles in a different region.
