Engineering, Energy & Infrastructure
About Balfour Beatty

Every day, we tackle questions and solve problems that shape daily life for millions of people. And our graduates are a huge part of the answers we find.

How do you connect and strengthen communities? How can you enable a power station to light up a city? How do you keep rivers under control? These are the kind of questions you could be answering with us.

Joining one of the country’s largest infrastructure groups, you could be contributing to, or supporting, high-profile projects that have serious impact. From roads, railways or airports to energy, water or our business, you’ll find countless opportunities to make your mark. You’ll be free to explore, and encouraged to grow. And you’ll get to shape the direction your career takes, as well as the projects you’re involved in.

What are our graduate opportunities?

Whatever your discipline, whether you’re in an office or onsite; you’ll be a big part of genuinely fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.

Our Technical Graduates take on world-changing projects in roles including Building/Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services), Environmental, Health and Safety, Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management and Transportation Planning.

Our Business Graduates shape our current and future success in areas like Finance, General Management, HR, IT and Marketing & Communications.

Whichever route you follow, you’ll be in control. If you ever want more responsibility, to take a particular professional exam, or to explore a different discipline, we’ll always listen.

What are our internship opportunities?

On one of our paid internships, you’ll spend 12 months learning about our business and industry, and contributing to projects that shape and support daily life. You’ll turn potential into proven expertise. And you’ll work with people who’ll give you the right foundations for your post-graduation career.

Depending on the scheme you choose, you’ll be based on-site at one of our ground-breaking projects, or placed into a commercially-minded office team. Either way, you’ll do work that really means something. The challenges you face will be varied and valuable, and you’ll develop a deep understanding of your chosen area.

How do we select?

Once you’ve completed your application, we’ll be in touch to arrange a telephone interview. Do well on this, and you’ll be invited to a one-day assessment centre, where you’ll have the chance to show us how passionate you are about your career choice. You’ll get to meet some of our current graduates and senior figures, too.

Don’t forget to cite Bright Network on your Balfour Beatty application form, they’re keen to hear from our members.
