Standard Chartered

We’re an international bank, nimble enough to act, big enough for impact. For more than 170 years, we’ve worked to make a positive difference for our clients, communities, and each other. We are where over 83,000 people come together with ambition and a strong sense of accountability – to take action and make good things happen for each other, our clients and our communities. When you work with us, you can expect to be challenged and supported, while helping to build the new economies in trade, innovation and sustainability that will change the world for good.
Our early careers programmes combine structured training with mentorship from senior managers invested in your success as a future leader. With the support, autonomy and opportunity to make an impact in international markets, you’ll work with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to uphold our ‘here for good’ promise, giving purpose to everything you do.
Here, your career isn’t about waiting for the future – it’s about actively creating it through work that matters to our clients, communities, and economies throughout the world.
What opportunities are you offering?
We run a graduate programme, starting in July each year. You’ll enjoy exposure to different business functions, get on-the-job training, while working on meaningful projects and networking with senior leaders to enable you to grow your career in the direction you want to go.
We also offer summer internships, starting in June each year. These internships are a pipeline for our graduate programme, so could be the start of a high-flying career with us. Over eight weeks you’ll get to know our business, develop your skills via on-the-job and classroom based training, hear from our senior leadership team and work on a high profile project with your fellow interns.
In April each year we also offer a Spring Week programme for motivated first year students (or second year of a four year degree). In addition to our formal programmes, we also offer virtual work experience to give students a taste of some of our roles. You can currently step into the world of a Credit Analyst, by completing various tasks that replicate the role, in your own time.
Why Bright Network students?
You don’t have to be a ‘numbers person’ to do well here. In fact, your background and what you’ve studied isn’t that important to us - it’s what you do with it that counts. We offer a huge variety of early careers pathways, from traditional investment banking, to HR, marketing and technology.
What would your ideal candidate look like?
Bring your energy and enthusiasm, and we’ll give you the freedom, support and opportunities to grow a meaningful career. Students need to share our valued behaviours as they shape our culture and reflect what we expect of ourselves and each other: do the right thing, never settle and better together.
What are the perks of working for your company?
Our early careers programmes are perfect for students who relish working in a dynamic, global environment, with an inclusive culture. One that celebrates our unique diversity across teams, business functions and geographies. We also offer competitive salaries that fully reflect your skills and experience.
