Black Talent in Banking is taking place on 1st March and is designed to support our Bright Network members in exploring different career paths in a variety of sectors, whilst introducing you to committed, inclusive employers. After the success of our previous Student Leadership Boards, we are delighted to announce that we're once again looking to collaborate with a group of 4 bright and ambitious students passionate about championing gender equality in the banking sector.

By joining the Student Leadership Board, you'll take an elevated role in the run up to the event as well as on the day during the networking to help maximise the benefits of the event for yourself and other members.

It's a great opportunity to enhance your CV with valuable skills – leadership, communication, marketing, and networking.

What's new for this spring, and why should you apply? 

  • Recieve 1:1 mentoring with our very own marketing guru, Nat Townsend and play a leading role in growing the Black Talent in Banking Guild community
  • Have one of your questions asked directly to the panel during the event
  • Receive a personal certificate of participation for the Student Leadership Board
  • Get a pre-event content pack filled with materials and resources to support your time on the board

What will the role involve?

As a Student Leadership Board member, you will be taking a more influential role before and at the event. Your core responsibilities will be:

In advance

  • Attend one virtual pre-event meeting with Katie Chapman who is the Event Manager for Black Talent in Banking
  • Help manage the Black Talent in Banking Guild group chat, helping members connect and engage with one another. Find out more about Guild here
  • Support with spreading the word about Bright Network Black Talent in Banking at your university, societies and posting on social media

On the day

  • Arrive at the venue at 11:00am 
  • Attend a briefing with the Bright Network team on the day of the event 
  • Host an interview with our premier partner, HSBC for our virtual attendees
  • Interview our Bright Network host with your questions
  • Have the opportunity to deliver a workshop of your choice to our members
  • Manage registrations and welcome attendees and partner firm, representatives 
  • Lead networking and guide fellow attendees to have productive conversations with partner firms 

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for the Black Talent in Banking Student Leadership Board to be made up of people who:

  • Are motivated and enthusiastic about maximising the event's impact for employers and students
  • Are confident to take on a leadership role during the event
  • Having familiarity with social media promotion would be a bonus but not essential
  • Have successfully applied and received an offer to attend the in-person event
