Our close working Transactions and Compliance team have an exciting opportunity for 3 graduates (one based in each location) to join them.

The Transaction and Compliance team forms part of a larger environmental team comprising 28 environmental specialists based in across the UK and Ireland.

The core Transaction and Compliance team business is related to

  • Industrial Emissions (IE) Licensing and other Environmental Permitting
  • Pharmaceutical facility decommissioning
  • Enforcement support work for the 5 Environmental Agencies across the UK and Ireland
  • Environmental and Health and Safety compliance auditing and,
  • Environmental and Health and Safety due diligence assessments.

Job Responsibility

While primarily working within the Transaction and Compliance team, the successful candidate will also be involved within specific projects across the wider environmental team, including remediation, environmental impact assessment and Environment & Social Governance.

When a graduate starts with us, we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects. Their initial role will support and assist with the completion of design tasks on a range of T&C team projects.

The candidate will undertake specific tasks under Project Manager direction in a wide range of projects within the areas described above. Tasks will be both desktop and field based. Training where required will be provided, mainly project specific training and mentoring (e.g., via accompanying senior staff on site visits).

The candidate will contribute to the Transactions and Compliance team overall targets and objectives and will ensure that health and safety is paramount to all activities.

You will be assigned a mentor to support and guide your development and undertake regular training modules throughout the programme. There will be on-the-job and classroom training where required, and the opportunity to work on live client projects with significant multi-disciplinary exposure.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educated to at least degree level in, a relevant environmental discipline e.g. EIA, Environmental Sciences/Studies/Management/Sustainable Development/ Policy, Geography (inc physical), Engineering.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to learn, understand or have knowledge of environmental regulations - compliance .
  • Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders as appropriate as well as to work independently without losing initiative & focus.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
  • Strong report writing research, numeracy, and verbal communications skills with the confidence to engage with a variety of people, summarise technical information effectively and demonstrate diligent research techniques
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail- evidence of an organised approach to task/project management - Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole
  • Enthusiastic with excellent research skills.
  • Sound report writing skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure, responding to changing project and programme demands
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally work out of normal office hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full Clean Driving licence beneficial for site work where equipment is required
  • Previous experience of working in a consultancy environment would be beneficial, including work placements or relevant voluntary experience ideally with exposure to EHS, Environmental Compliance.
