About us

We are looking for a work placement student to join us in the Airframe Wing Competence and Resource (C&RM) team, to support the transformation of the business with the development of new skills, technologies and improved ways of working.

The Competence and Resource team is part of the wider Business Operations team based in Filton, providing support to the Airframe Wing Engineering team on resource management, competence management, training and in-situ Temporary Employee management.

We are a team of 3 currently with a mix of technical and managerial backgrounds who are as keen on the development of the team as we are to supporting the development of others through our primary roles.

What you will be doing

As a member of the Wing Competence & Resource team you will get involved in a large range of topics supporting the Airframe Wing business.

During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include

  • ensuring right resources in right places at right time to enable delivery
  • analysing and reporting on competence assessment campaign
  • working with team managers to support training needs of individuals and teams
  • track the compulsory learning
  • monitoring and forecasting resource for Airframe Wing worldwide and Airframe in the UK
  • identify continuous improvement opportunities in all of the above

The Wing C&RM team also interacts routinely with the other airframe domains (i.e. fuselage, empennage, repairs ) to ensure that higher level projects related to competence development, training and resource management are met within Wing.

We are at the forefront of sharing and implementing best practices and moving into the digital age, but always keeping in mind that it is people we are working with, not just numbers. You will support the drive for further simplification and automation of tasks and processes, to deliver data to our customers in a seamless way through our Google site and other tools

We are shaping the transformation of the business by predicting the future needs to support environmentally sustainable aviation, for instance by defining the resource needs for hybrid hydrogen power and the training solutions to deliver it.

Ideally you are studying a technical engineering or business management degree where modules have looked at project management, continuous improvement and lean principles.
