This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates to join our two-year underwriting programme in Allianz Commercial’s North Region, based in our Leeds office.

Underwriting is a fundamental skill set within any insurance company, and we strongly believe that starting your industry career in this area sets you on the right path for future success. Our two-year underwriting scheme is designed to give you all the skills and technical knowledge you need to become a successful underwriter and technical specialist of the future, whether you wish to remain within underwriting or move to another function of our business with options including Claims, Operations, Portfolio Management and Sales & Distribution. We are incredibly proud of the continued success of our previous cohorts, with roles currently held including Head of Digital Trading Insurance, Underwriting Team Manager and Mid-Market Portfolio steering Manager.

About the role

As an Allianz Underwriter you will underwrite, trade and build relationships with Brokers, clients and other relevant stakeholders both internally and externally meaning the Underwriter role is incredibly varied with no two days the same.

Working for Allianz you’ll gain a huge breadth of experience across a span of commercial businesses, and will either specialise in Commercial Motor, Property and Casualty, Financial Lines or Motor Trade sectors, with options to focus on renewing existing clients or prospecting and underwriting business that is new to Allianz UK.

As an underwriting graduate, you will have the opportunity to complete the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII), and you will complete Allianz’s market-leading Excellence in Technical programme, tailored to your specific role. In addition this scheme offers increased engagement with our UK executive, and will provide a senior mentor and in office buddy to ensure you are offered a high degree of support, from your first day with us, right through to the end of you two year programme and beyond.

In order to succeed in this role you will be keen to learn, have high attention to detail and will enjoy working both as part of a team, and also independently at times. You will be driven and willing to find solutions to challenges, but will also know when you need to seek support and guidance from your team. You will be open to handling challenging conversations with external parties on occasion, and will be prepared to place yourself outside of your comfort zone to enable you to succeed.
