Shape tomorrow’s world with Amey

Amey Consulting is one of the UK’s leading engineering consultancies, inspiring change and driving improvements across the UK's critical infrastructure to create a positive impact on society. Our ambition is to leave a legacy of sustainable infrastructure for future generations.

The Team and role

The railway sector has always been one of our core sectors and because of our success in building and maintaining the railway, Amey Consulting has become an industry leader in Rail Design consultancy services. With a growing team of over 550 employees, working across our 6 Rail design offices throughout the UK we are continuing to add to our already extensive and impressive list of project awards.

From day one you’ll be given real responsibility, gaining invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts and across your team.

As a Graduate, you will learn & develop, playing an integral part, as you work alongside the team to deliver the following:

  • Actively contribute to (railway) site surveys.
  • Undertake Civils/Geotechnical design and assessment work.
  • Ensure designs to a level that comply with Network Rail, British and European Standards.
  • Prepare design and assessment reports.
  • Produce (2D / 3D) design drawings using MicroStation.
  • Support design submissions under the support of the Lead Engineer & Engineering Manager.

The Graduate Programme

Throughout the 2-year programme, you will receive structured learning to enable your professional and personal development. You’ll get hands-on experience while collaborating with some of the best minds in the industry. Yes, you’ll learn from them, but they expect to learn from you too.

You’ll be given a ‘buddy’ and a mentor to assist you as you settle into your new role, helping answer any questions you may have, and support you in developing the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.

Our Graduate Programme is so rewarding - whether that’s through your professional development, your growth as an individual or seeing your input really make a difference.

Don’t just take our word for it, Sean Griffin, one of our current Graduates has this to say:

“Over the past year as a graduate, it has been both a challenging and rewarding journey. I am looking forward to my future with Amey as my skills and knowledge develop throughout my career”.
