We are seeking a legal intern with an interest in the investment funds space to join our in-house legal team based in Mayfair, London

The successful candidate will be a law student in the process of qualifying in France, the UK or another European jurisdiction or a recently qualified lawyer. Previous in-house or private practice internship experience, ideally with exposure to private equity/venture capital and/or investment funds work, is a plus but not essential. The candidate will possess a strong academic record.

The role

  • Providing legal support on the creation, structuring and management of funds (including UK limited partnerships and Luxembourg structures),
  • Participating in the preparation and drafting of relevant fund documentation,
  • Participating in negotiations with external investors and service providers,
  • Collaborating with and providing legal support to other departments
  • Assisting and preparing minutes of investment committees and board meetings,
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments,
  • Conducting legal research on topics relevant to the legal team’s activities,
  • Assisting on IT projects the legal team is involved in.

Specialised business and technical knowledge

  • The successful candidate should be able to learn quickly, organize their work effectively, pay attention to detail, and have the ability to adapt to their environment.

About you

  • The successful candidate will be a law student in the process of qualifying in France, the UK or another European jurisdiction or a recently qualified lawyer with a strong academic record.
  • Previous legal experience, in particular investment funds experience, is a plus but not essential.
  • Excellent knowledge of English is required, fluency in French is a plus but not essential.

Communication Scope

  • The successful candidate will have to communicate and interact with the other legal departments of the Ardian Group.
  • He or she will also have to work and liaise with a number of other departments, including Investment teams, Fund Finance, Investor Relations, Tax, and Compliance.
  • He or she will also have to communicate and interact with external legal counsel.

Regulatory Responsibilities

Conduct Rule Staff

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the role.
  • Understand the Individual Conduct Rules set out by the UK Regulator and ensure compliance in letter and in spirit.

Right to Work

  • Please ensure you have the appropriate right to work in the UK i.e. a British passport, settled or pre-settled status under the EU settlement scheme or have obtained a visa which gives you the right to live and work in the UK
