For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear research weapons research and development. Contracted to the MOD, we have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK’s ultimate deterrent – Trident. We also use our unique nuclear skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.

The role:

AWE’s Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) team is at the heart of the defence of the UK against radiological and nuclear threats, integrating a brilliant and diverse team of people and applying world-class technologies. The graduate programme in this area involves a range of technical and operational placements across NTR’s remit including Detection Science, Nuclear Forensics, Nuclear Treaty Verification and an operational response involved in supporting the police and military. The scheme will provide successful applicants with broad experience of NTR’s different facets, allow for interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders and provides an opportunity for individuals to make an active contribution to national security.

We are looking for graduates with degrees in science or emergency planning.

We recruit on a rolling basis which means as soon as our positions have been filled, we close our applications.

Successful candidates must be available to start on the Graduate Programme in September 2021.
