We have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Management Assistant to join our Rail team in Preston working as part of the Central Rail Systems Alliance (CRSA).
CRSA offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with partner organisations across the rail industry. CRSA has been created to make a positive impact on the UK track renewals industry by drawing on the strengths of all alliance partners and collaborative working.
Bringing together knowledge and experience in critical rail infrastructure and track renewals, the alliance deploys innovative working methods to realise efficiencies and create a more reliable railway infrastructure.
What you'll be doing
This varied role will assist in managing all aspects of project delivery, reporting to the Project Manager.
The successful candidate will
- Assist the Project Manager in the safe delivery, execution and financial performance to agreed budget and/or approved forecasts;
- Assist in monitoring that works are planned against agreed budgets and accurate cost plans are produced and reported against on a weekly basis;
- Develop and maintain excellent client relationships by effective and timely communication (i.e. shift reports), produced in a timely manner;
- Assist in ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with legal, client and company requirements, policies and instructions;
- Ensure that all project milestones are updated on a weekly basis;
- Ensure that site records are produced and adequacy of which reviewed on a monthly basis, to include site diaries, plant, labour, material returns and change records as minimum;
- Attendance at weekly meetings.

- Understanding of Project Management Principles;
- IT skills essential – word, excel and power point, email and internet
- Excellent communication & people skills
