Silent Witness

BBC Studios’ award-winning crime drama Silent Witness follows a team of forensic pathologists at The Lyell Centre, led by pathologist extraordinaire Dr. Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and Forensic Scientist Jack Hodgson (David Caves). Together, they navigate their way through twisted crime scenes, dodgy evidence, and shady characters.

Each action-packed episode sucks you into a world of crime, science and justice, while shining a light on today's pressing social issues through a diverse range of characters and adrenaline-filled, heart-pounding action. Since its debut in 1996, Silent Witness has been a global success and we're excited to keep the momentum going, ahead of the shows exciting move to the West Midlands later this year.

What is a Junior Assistant Coordinator?

The Junior Assistant Coordinator provides administrative assistance to the production team in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the show. You are part of the ‘go-to’ team, resolving various issues and supporting the Production Coordinators in the production office and on location.

This is a junior-level role and we’re looking for new talent based in the West Midlands as we continue to build our teams in the region.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance for the production during various stages of the process
  • Assist the Production Coordinator (or equivalent) in the preparation and subsequent communication of production information
  • Responsible for escalating any operational issues to the Production Coordinator or Manager, where necessary
  • Assist in delivering value for money in the role through effective and efficient management of time and resources
  • Collate accurate information required for ensuring all deliverables are available in a timely manner to fulfil the commission and that post-production documentation is complete and accurate
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment at all times, escalating any issues or areas of concern
  • Assist in coordinating the administration of IT requests and user administration including joiners, movers and leavers along with systems access and record keeping
  • Contribute to, and help to implement, practical actions to reduce environmental impact throughout production

Are you the right candidate?

To be successful in this role, you would be required to demonstrate the following passion, experience and knowledge:

  • Ideally have experience as a production/office runner
  • Passionate about BBC Studios Drama Productions
  • Experience of using systems and an ability to adopt to new technologies
  • Experience of working in a pressurised and stretched environment
  • Demonstratable business and finance skills, with an ability to understand and work with budgets
  • Awareness of multi-platform production/content
  • Demonstratable strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage conflicting demands to meet deadlines

Package description

  • An 8 week Fixed Term Contract
  • Salary of £22,000 per annum (which is pro rata’d to length of contract) plus £300 per week towards subsistence and travel
  • Access to a Training Manager to support your development
  • Training and Mentoring by industry professionals
  • 26 days of annual leave per annum (which is pro rata’d to length of contract)

Please note: the interviews will be taking place during the week of the 20th of May 2024, with 2 roles available during the weeks of the 3rd of June to the 26th of July and then during the weeks of the 29th of July and the 20th of September 2024
