     Working as part of a strong international team, our Assistant Analytics Actuaries work across all our lines of business. Working with Analytics Actuaries, Pricing Actuaries and Data Scientists on analytical projects, you’ll provide actuarial expertise to our market-leading underwriters.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Technical

    • Support the delivery of impactful underwriting analytics to the underwriting committee, including underwriting models, business segmentation, and profitability studies.
    • Develop and maintain tools for deriving business intelligence as to provide trends and insightful analyses to stakeholders such as underwriting, claims, pricing, reserving and capital.
    • Work with the underwriters, claims managers, Data Management and Ceded Reinsurance to ensure the quality and appropriateness of the data used for pricing; ensure the necessary data is captured from underwriting and claims to enhance future modeling capabilities
    • Identify opportunities and deliver improvements in the underwriting and pricing processes & methodologies
    • Further develop current market insight and trend analyses produced by the Group Actuarial team
    • Support the business planning process across Beazley by bringing together data, analytics, and output from both reserving and pricing, and providing tools to the business to enable their use.
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis; build models and clustering analyses via machine learning algorithms.
    • Contribute to ad-hoc projects assigned to them e.g. M&A analyses
    • Provide support to the business teams and claims managers as required within the pre peer process
    • Build and maintain constructive working arrangements with those groups identified as being key to your role
    • Operate as an effective team member by contributing to the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives
    • Keep abreast of industry best practice, new initiatives, and changes in regulatory requirements
    • Undertake applicable professional technical and career development training (delivered internally and externally); this includes maintaining actuarial CPD

    Personal Specification:

    Education and Qualifications

    • University degree in Mathematics or related field
    • Progress towards actuarial qualification (or desire to do so)

    Skills and Abilities

    • Accurate and numerate
    • Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office, advanced Excel skills. Good working knowledge of SQL and Python/R preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
    • Strong  communication skills are necessary to facilitate working closely with stakeholders across the business
    • Team worker as well as able to work on own initiative
    • The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise

    Knowledge and Experience

    • General commercial and financial knowledge
    • Building pricing experience; Lloyd’s / London market knowledge desirable
