Starting your IT career as a Graduate Developer within Capita Employee Solutions

We have a very exciting opportunity for 5 graduates to join our busy and fast paced Sheffield based team as Graduate Developers. You will play a key role in adapting our enterprise-level systems and large-volume databases to meet the change of our business needs and delight our high-profile clients.

The right people for this role will have a logical approach to their work, a keen desire to start a career in IT and will embrace this opportunity to learn and develop whilst playing a hands-on role in the shaping our applications going forward. Within this role you would receive 5 weeks training to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge that you need to hit the ground running and you will be surrounded by a supportive a knowledgeable team throughout your journey with us.

The graduate aspect of this role would last three years during this time you would have the opportunity to see incremental salary increases based on your performance. Applicants for this role need to be within commuting distance of Sheffield city centre as this role will be a mix of home and office working

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing new application functionality
  • Providing application support and bug fixing
  • Following the complete development cycle, including analysis and statement of intent, development, unit testing, peer reviews and releasing
  • Maintaining high coding standards
  • Complying with all relevant security policies, quality policies, FCA regulations, pensions regulations and department development standards
  • Producing documentation to agreed standards
  • Working with key business users and clients to define and specify requirements

What we’re looking for

  • Educated to degree level ideally in an IT, STEM or humanities focussed subject
  • A logical and methodical approach to work
  • An enthusiasm for development and a desire to pursue this as a career
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
