This is an exciting opportunity which would ideally suit students looking for a placement year. WMPF are keen to offer the opportunity of a one-year placement for students in Pension Services.

The Fund is one of the UK’s largest pension funds providing, from it’s ‘state of the art’ new building at i9 in Wolverhampton, local authority pension benefits for employees across the West Midlands. The Fund manages and administers the pension interests of over 330,000 scheme members, 800+ employers and currently has over £20 billion in assets under management.

About the role

As a fund trainee you will work in a specialist area within the Fund and be responsible for the following duties:

  • To respond to all enquiries from various sources via several access channels in a positive and professional manner and process such enquiries in accordance with the Fund’s procedures.
  • To be responsible for collating, maintaining and updating statistical information and reports designed to ensure an effective and efficient business support to the team.
  • To ensure clean data and procedures are being followed by communicating with relevant parties in order to gain ’buy-in’ to new initiatives.
  • Create and monitor reports against employer work, identifying and highlighting issues to line management where they exist.
  • To compile and maintain statistical employer and actuarial information reports.

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
