Climax Studios was established nearly 30 years ago, we have an extensive history in developing all kinds of digital experiences across all formats, and we have won multiple awards along the way.

We have a state of the art studio located in the heart of the beautiful Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth overlooking the Harbour and we are looking for a Junior IT Support Technician to join our team here at Climax Studios. This position requires a tenacious self-starter who enjoys problem solving complex and difficult issues using a mixture of software and experience. You will work closely with the IT Manager to maintain user’s up time and support on-site and remote workers.

We are unable to consider applications from overseas candidates, requiring a visa at this time. The successful candidate will need to be based in close proximity to the studio (and essential infrastructure equipment).

Responsibilities

  • Support users with requests via the ticketing system, while keeping IT security at the forefront of every decision
  • Replacing and maintaining hardware for user’s PC’s
  • Work alongside the IT Manager to ensure planned upgrades are implemented with minimum downtime
  • Updating documentation of working practices
  • Upgrade different types of hardware and software with minimal impact to users
  • Setting up new user’s accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks

Requirements

  • Understanding of basic Network Protocols
  • Experience working with G-Suite advantageous, but not essential
  • Hands on knowledge of changing hardware
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to resolve issues swiftly and effectively
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate documentation and job notes
  • The ability to articulate at a technical level appropriate to the circumstances
  • Previous experience in IT Support – at least one year, in a role providing services to external customers
  • Experience of working or supporting clients in the games industry a plus

  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Natural interest in IT with the desire to stay abreast of new solutions and technologies

Qualifications & training

  • Educated to at least A Level or equivalent
  • ITIL foundation certificate advantageous but not essential
