The Equinix Summer Internship Program offers wide-ranging opportunities in within the Finance organization. Spend your time gaining practical work experience and learning from some of the sharpest minds in the industry. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to shadow the Global GDC Leadership team and the GDC practitioners in their daily role in key initiatives, strategic engagements and project execution. The candidate will also be given guided responsibility for the completion of specific business required projects.
The commercial team is part of the wider Global Design & Construction [GDC] team. The team is responsible for optimizing capex efficiency globally, by utilizing historical data, market knowledge and expertise to predict and control the global capex to safe guard commercial interests within GDC.
Responsibilities
Summer Project
- Project Benchmarking of Global Data Center projects at key project stages
- Estimating and budget management – completion of estimates and corresponding budgets of multi-million-dollar data center projects.
- Contractor Procurement – Oversight of the General Contractor selection process including the review of different procurement routes.
- Contract Negotiation – Review and negotiation of contractor’s estimate submissions to ensure that it is aligned to the contract and latest design
- Cashflow Management – reviewing the cashflow of data center projects during project execution.
- Project Closeout – Financial closeout of projects including the closure of purchase orders and reviewing final invoices.
- Procurement – the tracking of procurement spend and commercially agreed rebates.
- Working on real-life projects that will add true value and have a big impact on our business

Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university/college, in your penultimate year of your Bachelor’s or Master's degree studies, working towards BSc Construction Management, Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying or similar degree
- Available to work full-time between for the duration of the Summer Internship Programme (May to August or June to September)
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, business proficiency in English
- Ability to create accurate reports, deliver presentations, and share information and ideas with others
- Analytically driven and detail-oriented, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package and aptitude to learn new software.
