Exactmer is a fast-growing Life Sciences business dedicated to producing precision polymeric molecules with our patented Nanostar Sieving Technology. Using this disruptive new platform, we are creating exquisite synthetic and biological polymers, including oligonucleotides and mono-disperse polyethylene glycols (PEGs), ADC linkers, peptides and more…most of them bound for use in medicines that enhance patient quality of life.
About the role
London-based, we are in a rapid phase of growth and have opportunities for chemical engineers to join our team. Unique synthetic molecular separation membranes are at the core of our technology platform, and this role would include all aspects of their fabrication from polymer starting materials in our in-house facility. You also will deal with designing, building and operating nanostar synthesizers, from lab scale through pilot scale, including synthesizer equipment design and procurement, synthesizer automation and control, and operating of lab and pilot plant units. Excellent record-keeping and adherence to safety codes and protocols are essential. We are searching for self-starting, dynamic, flexible and committed individuals who are interested in gaining experience and growing their skills in Life Sciences development and manufacturing.
You will be based in the company’s new facilities in Dagenham-East Business Park.
What you'll do
Primary duties will include a variety of lab-based and small-scale lean manufacturing tasks, these include but are not limited to stock management, membrane filter and cartridge production, polymer production, quality control, HSE assessment, documentation, etc. The candidate would also contribute to product and process development, production continual improvement, and project management. The candidate should demonstrate practical and safe working knowledge and behaviour, and the ability to prioritising work in accordance with supervisor direction.
Candidates will ideally have an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering or relevant engineering. Some post-graduation experience, for example working in industry or a practical PhD, would be a plus, and the candidate must be comfortable working around chemicals.
