Help our team provide services and solutions across the eDiscovery lifecycle to leading global law firms and corporate in-house counsels involved in high-profile and complex litigation and investigations.

eDiscovery

As part of our Forensic Technology & Discovery Services (FTDS) team, our eDiscovery team analyses unstructured, semi-structured and structured data using a wide variety of leading and emerging technologies. This includes Generative AI for investigations and litigation into price fixing, misappropriation of funds, employee misconduct, financial crime and much more. The eDiscovery lifecycle covers data collection, processing, analysis, review, and disclosure. We often work on terabytes of data representing tens of millions of documents, chat messages, and data points.

Technology in eDiscovery

We use a wide array of leading eDiscovery tools and technologies to support client requirements and solve our clients' most sensitive and difficult issues. Key technologies include digital forensics and data collection tools and we often extend functionality via custom development. We process data of all types and sizes either on-premise or hosted in the cloud. We employ analytics and machine learning to sift through large amounts data to identify patterns, behaviours and key facts. Outcomes and insights are presented to stakeholders in the form of compelling stories using a variety of visualisation and reporting tools.

What will you be doing?

  • Working in our Financial Services (FS) with some of the most high-profile financial services firms and their outside counsels
  • Helping to collect, process, analyse and disclose key data in investigations and litigation, including the creation of visualisations and timelines to help establish fact patterns
  • Managing and collaborating with document review professionals, legal counsel and other teams supporting our clients
  • Solving client issues using a wide range of technology, analytical techniques, machine learning and automation
  • Adding defensibility to the legal and investigative process
  • Acquiring domain knowledge through working with clients in different sectors
  • Becoming familiar with the Forensics domain (Anti Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing, Sanctions, Fraud, Anti Bribery and Corruption, etc.)

Are you eligible to apply?

We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need to be working towards an honours degree in any subject (STEM also welcome), have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels/Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

How’s it structured?

The eDiscovery team uses cutting edge technology and analytics to help our clients with some of their most pressing fraud, compliance and regulatory issues of our biggest global clients. On the graduate programme you should expect to quickly learn core eDiscovery, project management and consulting skills through a combination of high quality internal and external training courses. You'll gain industry recognised certifications and sector knowledge on the job.

You should expect to be working on client engagements as soon as you start, applying your developing eDiscovery skills across a wide range of clients. The core work that we conduct in eDiscovery includes corporate fraud investigations, anti-bribery and corruption, trader surveillance and market manipulation, contractual disputes, anti-competitive behaviour and sanctions screening, helping us to build greater trust between organisations and society.

As well as learning the skills to be an effective eDiscovery consultant, you'll learn how to solve complex problems and gain experience working directly with clients.

Overview of the programme

  • Year 1: Core eDiscovery skills including data collection, processing, analysis, review support and disclosure. Alongside this technical learning, you'll also be taught the foundations of Quality and Risk Management and accounting as well as specific sector or domain knowledge.
  • Year 2: Building on the first year, you'll continue to learn more advanced eDiscovery disciplines and tools that are used within the team such as advanced machine learning and AI technologies.
  • Year 3: You'll be given the opportunity to undertake an engagement, with proper support from senior team members, that will allow you to run the day-to-day client interactions.

As the programme progresses, you’ll become more familiar with handling large data sets, working in a cross-functional team and designing and developing solutions. You could use social network analysis, concept clustering, predictive analytics, text mining, data visualisation and more. You’ll have access to formal and informal support, training and development opportunities, and you could be offered the chance to travel abroad for an international project.

By the end of the programme, you will have developed a wealth of skills and knowledge, and could have the opportunity to progress and continue building a great career. Whether you're considering pursuing a legal, forensic or big data career, gaining skills in eDiscovery could give you insights, skills and experience to become a future leader.
