The role

We are currently recruiting a Project Manager to join the UK Banking Team at FIS. This position is London-based and aligned to the FIS University Program; a 2-year Program suited to entry level joiners who aspire to develop a successful career with a leading fintech company!  

As a full-time FIS University Program participant, you will receive on-the-job training and also have an opportunity to participate in team projects, professional development webinars and work with a team that is invested in your growth, development, and success - including performance connects with your manager and you will be eligible for bi-annual merit reviews based on your start date and your performance.

The UK program has a start date in September 2024 with a dedicated “Learning Week” where you will:

  • Learn the unique nature of our industry, products, and the markets in which we work
  • Learn the structure of FIS and options for growth within the organisation
  • Hear from FIS leadership about their journey and participate in senior leader networking opportunities
  • Build a network of peers from across the organisation

Following the FIS University Program Learning week, you will continue your learning journey with your business unit and receive further functional training as you settle into your role.

About the team 

The UK Banking team supports banking and retail clients, with a very wide platform base covering savings and loans, and credit cards.
We support the end-to-end platform with around 100 components and deliver projects covering new products and functionality, regulatory and currency changes.

The team has a local base in Edinburgh, but also works with key people throughout the UK, USA and Asia. We bring together teams comprising business analysts, project managers, developers and testers for our change work, working alongside specialists in infrastructure, service transition and implementation and production support. Our work covers internal projects as well as those requested by the clients. 

We will look to rotate the successful candidate through several teams during the 2 year programme, to ensure that the wide variety of work within the team is experienced. This will provide involvement in both PMO (Project Management Office) and PM, to see all aspects of the project lifecycle; with other opportunities such as business analysis, delivery management and Testing depending on the work and projects available and your areas of interest.      

What you will be doing 

In this role you will be responsible for various aspects of the project lifecycle including client facing,  internal enhancement and/or maintenance projects within our banking platform. The role will include dealing with external clients and internal stakeholders  and working as part of a project team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the defined scope.

Examples of day-to-day responsibilities in the role: 

  • Support delivery of key projects against agreed budgets and timescales from contract signature through to live production.
  • Work alongside various teams to develop, define, and execute project plans, project scope, schedules, budgets, and key deliverables for example Business Analysis artefacts.
  • Maintain and develop business relationships with assigned clients or internal stakeholders through project kick off meetings, and ongoing project meetings presenting a professional image.
  • Monitor various aspects of the project to ensure it meets company standards, methodologies, and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Control, monitor and report progress against plan and support any corrective action required  to meet delivery obligations. 
  • Support the management of project risks, issues/problems and activity progress to ensure project goals, e.g., deadline, scope and quality are achieved. Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed.
