What would I be doing?

  • Preparation of initial site reviews and site-specific strategies
  • Supporting team members in the preparation, submission, and management of planning applications including preparing reports relating to a variety of projects
  • Building strong working relationships and project managing other professionals, such as architects, landscape, highways, drainage, and ecology consultants
  • Engaging positively with clients, Planning Officers, members of the public and other statutory bodies
  • Supporting team members with advice, sharing workloads, and working on same projects
  • Manage time recording
  • Manage and prioritise your own caseload
  • Deliver high quality work and service to the client
  • Visit sites and meet clients

What are the requirements?
We are more than happy to teach you all the technical skills you need, it is your personal attributes and commitment to the role that is key. Ideally, you will:

  • Be a student from a planning related degree
  • Be committed to continuing your studies in order to become chartered with RTPI
  • Have an interest in the built and/or natural environment
  • Have excellent people and communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to identify and solve problems
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Adopt a consultative approach, able to identify and solve problems
  • Have the ability to work on multiple projects and tasks at any one time, working in a way that is highly agile and responsive to rapidly changing client and site requirements
  • Have access to transport, or be willing to do so by the time you start work, as you will often be required to travel to out of town client sites
  • Enjoy going out and about in all weathers, travelling across the region or further afield and working outside of the normal 9-5 when required.

Salary: £27,000 per annum
