We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to be part of our multidisciplinary Building Services Engineering Design team in London. You will work within a team to develop the engineering designs for national and international building projects with an emphasis on innovative technology and low carbon strategies.

Foster + Partners offers a CIBSE accredited Graduate Training Scheme to assist developing engineers to attain professional Chartered Engineer qualification and have staff support networks including for women and LGBT+ groups.

Role description

  • Prepare, and develop under the guidance of a project leader, engineering calculations and analysis 
  • Use 3D and 2D software to model electrical engineering installations and prepare technical systems diagrams
  • Take responsibility, where required by the project leader, for specific areas of the design and project development
  • Present design decisions for discussion at team meetings
  • Liaise, with members of the external design team and other associated organisations or companies
  • Take interest in innovative technology and new methods in electrical engineering
  • Seek, and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Learn Foster + Partners internal procedures and standards for quality and code compliance

Qualities and skills required 

  • Degree qualification in Electrical, Architectural or Building Services engineering
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team • Broad interest in engineering, building design and environmental issues
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently
  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and commitment to independent, lifelong learning
  • Proficient user of MS Office software with enthusiasm to learn specialist design and engineering packages (Training will be provided)
  • Ability to take initiative in response to direction or instruction • Excellent organisational skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Fluent in English)
