Our Electrical and Electronic Engineering Area of Frazer-Nash supports our clients providing world leading design lifecycle support to their enterprise, equipment and plant operations. Our engineers apply their technical skills to tackle problems on behalf of our clients; to take a systems view to consult and understand their needs and deliver sustainable and safe solutions that truly add value.

We typically work on high end engineering projects either within regulated industries, critical national infrastructure or where there is a real technology challenge such as safety system design, fusion or achievement of Net Zero by system innovation.

Our Electrical Engineers provide such services as – HV/LV Design, system and equipment qualification and assessment, equipment specification, power system modelling and analysis, battery storage and renewable energy system design, control & instrumentation design, design assurance (including functional safety), obsolescence and operational technology cyber support.

What you’ll be doing at Frazer-Nash?

As a Frazer-Nash Graduate Electrical Engineer you can expect to be tasked on real world problems from the get-go. You will be responsible for delivering technical tasks within projects, liaising and networking both internally with our technical teams and externally with Clients. You will be actively involved in all aspects of the project lifecycle, from eliciting our clients’ needs, through to developing a costed technical scope and programme, to the management and technical delivery of that scope. To give a flavour of our current Electrical tasking:

  • We are supporting the design and delivery of the electrical systems at Hinkley Point C Power Station
  • The concept electrical system design for UKAEA’s next generation Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production
  • Developing the Electrical Power and Control Systems for an electrical aircraft
  • Design and commissioning support for a Carbon Capture demonstration rig for University of Sheffield
  • Upgrades to UK dockyard electrical systems to support the next generation of ships and submarines
  • Design of radiological protection systems for European Spallation Source
  • Support to a community microgrid
  • Design for a grid connected data storage facility
  • Independent technical review of an HVDC interconnector and conversion stations.

We support these tasks collaboratively in a hybrid manner from our offices, from client’s sites or working from home as determined by the task.

What you’ll need?

Essential requirements

  • An IET accredited Electrical Engineering or General Engineering Degree (2:1 Masters, PhD or Bachelor’s with evidence of post graduate experience).
  • A passion for electrical engineering and how innovation can deliver a securer, safer, sustainable and affordable world.
  • Good communication and openness to learn and develop your technical and consultative skills.

Desirable:

  • Industry (placement) experience in electrical power systems, power system modelling or sustainable power generation and distribution.
  • Application of technical and/or interpersonal skills beyond the university curriculum.
