Global Counsel is seeking an associate to join our Delivery, Marketing, & Events team. GC’s Delivery team has a cross-cutting remit across the business, the team are responsible for GC’s external facing brand, marketing, content and campaigns as well as client events and supporting the senior leadership team with GC corporate strategy.

The successful candidate will work across GC’s in-person and digital events, marketing and business development campaigns. This is a role well suited to an entry-level associate looking to understand the strategic advisory sector, the interplay between policymaking, corporates and investors and the role of marketing and events in enhancing a company brand.

Role and responsibilities

  • Work with the wider Delivery team on event design, programming and event execution from virtual events to in-office roundtables, external private dinners to conferences and networking events.
  • Work with a broad range of GC practices across sectors and markets to support them with identifying and tracking engagement with relevant stakeholders for GC campaigns, events, and other BD purposes.
  • Drafting marketing materials such as event invitations, social media copy, event webpages, speaker invitations
  • Using and serving as gatekeeper of the CRM, regularly evaluate the extent to which GC’s network engages with our marketing content and how we use these insights to inform our marketing and content distribution strategies.
  • Identifying opportunities to raise GC’s profile through media engagement and GC’s role in third-party events (e.g. Web Summit, COP, UK party conferences etc).

Background and experience

  • Has an interest in politics, policy and regulation and what this means for GC’s corporate and investor clients. We want someone who wants to learn about the global political and policy environment, and how we use marketing strategies to demonstrate GC’s value and insights.
  • Is adaptable and able to work in teams across the business. We are looking for someone who will work effectively not just within the marketing team, but across the organisation, including with our international offices.
  • Has proven project management skills. Someone who can handle concurrent tasks effectively and lead independent projects.
  • Takes a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Someone who is willing to learn new tools, suggest new processes, and take the lead on internal projects.
  • Has an entrepreneurial approach to business development and finding opportunities to raise GC’s profile.

  • A motivated self-starter who can balance multiple deadlines at once.
  • Demonstrated interest in politics, policy or advocacy.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication.
  • A commercial focus and the ability to turn in-depth written, audio and video assets into insightful but accessible marketing content.
  • A strong commitment to professional development and an entrepreneurial approach to making the role their own.
  • Previous experience in marketing, communications, advocacy, journalism or corporate affairs desirable but not required.
