    The role

    An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic individual to join DBTH in its Electronic Patient Record (EPR) journey with support from the Digital Aspirant Plus NHSx programme DBTH are now in moving at pace to procure and implement an EPR.

    The graduate will be expected to support the EPR programme with a particular focus on:

    • Data migration
    • Data analysis
    • Reporting and predictive analysis out of EPR

    The EPR will deliver significant and substantial changes to clinical and administrative workflows supported by digital technology, and you will support the information work package which will include:

    • Support scoping of BI requirements
    • Documenting data sources
    • Support research and development work relating to the implementation of the EPR.

    There will be a range of opportunities to improve your skills within the Trust as the role will involve close working relationships with clinical and admirative teams, project teams, technical teams, and Digital Practitioner team.

    The candidate

    The successful candidate will be working required to undertake the Level 7 Artificial Intelligence Data Specialist Apprenticeship and work towards the attached job description as a Trainee Assistant Data Scientist within the fixed term contract. During this time, you will gain significant experience in an acute NHS Trust implementing an EPR.

    The main duties will include

    • Communicate results and conclusions from highly complex analysis and present detailed investigations clearly and concisely to a wide range of internal and external staff, guiding them on an appropriate course of action.
    • Provide expert analytical advice and business intelligence to support the Trust with their strategic business planning and business case submissions
    • Deploy reports and dashboards to assist with ongoing project work within the department.
    • Analysing and suggesting ways to improve the work of the department with respect to analysis, reporting, or production of analytic work
    • Helping team members and the wider Trust to develop skills and understanding in the development, deployment, use, and interpretation of interactive dashboards produced with relevant software (i.e. through R, Python)
    • Present analysis, by using appropriate presentational software and tailored to different professional groups, at senior directorate meetings, which may prove controversial by conflicting with clinical opinion.
    • Liaise with managers and clinical staff to assess their current and future information requirements and propose options for tools and techniques that will fulfil their needs whilst adhering to Trust policies, objectives and priorities
    • Provide training to non-analytical staff on a range of complex statistical and analytical techniques
    • Identify opportunities to support and improve corporate processes
    • Develop mechanisms for providing early warning to the Trust of potential performance issues and work with Divisions and Directorates to improve performance to ensure key targets are met.
    • To act as the Information Specialist in terms of data modelling, predictive modelling and advanced analytical techniques utilising the appropriate software packages.
    • To support information users to correctly interpret information.

    Skills and experience

    Level 7 MSc Artificial Intelligence Data Specialist Apprenticeship Eligibility

    • an honours degree (2:2 or above) in an appropriate discipline, or with the appropriate aptitude for a role in technology.
    • OR work experience will be taken into consideration, around 4+ years’ experience in a similar discipline.

    The NHS Graduates into Health Digital, Data, Technology Scheme (DDaT) is a highly focused development pathway for graduates to become the next NHS digital, data and technology middle managers and beyond. Alongside their new role, graduates will complete an apprenticeship relevant to the role they are undertaking and integral Continual Professional Development (CPD) training. During the scheme, graduates will attend progress reviews as well as having the opportunity to work with a mentor.
