    The role

    An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic individual to join DBTH in its Electronic Patient Record (EPR) journey with support from the Digital Aspirant Plus NHSx programme DBTH are now in moving at pace to procure and implement an EPR.

    The graduate will be expected to support the EPR programme with a particular focus on:

    • Data migration
    • Data analysis
    • Reporting and predictive analysis out of EPR

    The EPR will deliver significant and substantial changes to clinical and administrative workflows supported by digital technology, and you will support the information work package which will include:

    • Support scoping of BI requirements
    • Documenting data sources
    • Support research and development work relating to the implementation of the EPR.

    There will be a range of opportunities to improve your skills within the Trust as the role will involve close working relationships with clinical and admirative teams, project teams, technical teams, and Digital Practitioner team.

    The candidate

    The successful candidate will be working required to undertake the Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship and work towards the attached job description as a Trainee Information Development Analyst within the fixed term contract

    The main duties will include

    • Development and provision of high quality, accurate and timely information to support strategic, business and operational planning purposes to support the Trust’s objectives
    • Using expert knowledge to advise on the most appropriate methods of analysing data and making recommendations based on these outcomes to support the information needs of the Trust
    • Deliver presentations and workshops to both large and small audiences.
    • Act as an information expert.  There will be a need to frequently convey contentious, sensitive and complex information in a non-threatening and user-friendly way to Managers and Clinicians.
    • At all times communicates effectively with the customer in interpreting complex and patient sensitive information thus ensuring the customer fully understands and overcomes any lack of understanding and is confident with the information, any limitations and key messages.
    • Liaise with Managers and Clinicians on the provision of new and existing information requirements associated with business and clinical objectives.
    • Undertake complex data and statistical analysis to support Trust projects.
    • In collaboration with colleagues, take the lead in planning and developing suites of information reports to meet the strategic, tactical and operational business needs of the organisation and its clients
    • To initiate, plan, co-ordinate and adjust where necessary own work packages. Develop work plans and organise how tasks are to be completed. Ensure skill and knowledge sharing is achieved to minimise risk.
    • To ensure complex reports are presented in an appropriate format and that full explanations of findings or assumptions used form part of the service.
    • Interpret and report on results of analysis verbally, graphically and in written reports and provide briefings as and when required at all times ensuring added value for the customer.
    • To be able to use key statistical techniques where appropriate and to provide well written, accessible and concise reports
    • Analyse and interpret trends, advise on information for service planning (i.e. Capacity & Demand Planning), undertakes patient activity forecasting, capacity and business planning information analysis, as required.
    • Responsible for the continual automation and streamlining of systems, procedures and processes for extracting, processing and reporting of complex information. Undertake self-audit for any changes to systems and processes developed to ensure a quality product

    Skills and experience

    During this time, you will gain significant experience in an acute NHS Trust implementing an EPR.

     Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship Eligibility

    • Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship/A-levels/BTEC, etc)
    • OR equivalent work experience, typically 18+ months in a relevant role

    The NHS Graduates into Health Digital, Data, Technology Scheme (DDaT) is a highly focused development pathway for graduates to become the next NHS digital, data and technology middle managers and beyond. Alongside their new role, graduates will complete an apprenticeship relevant to the role they are undertaking and integral Continual Professional Development (CPD) training. During the scheme, graduates will attend progress reviews as well as having the opportunity to work with a mentor.
