Hoare Lea is an award-winning engineering consultancy with a creative team of engineers, designers and technical specialists. We provide innovative solutions to complex engineering and design challenges for buildings.

Irrespective of the scale or complexity of a project, we provide a full range of MEP, environmental and sustainability services, bringing buildings to life and ensuring that they perform in operation as well as they look.

The performance of a building is the true measure of its success; how it lives and breathes in reality rather than ‘on paper’. But what does successful performance mean? While the construction industry is traditionally focused on energy, we understand that this may not always be the driving force and success can also be measured in terms of reduced carbon emissions, occupant comfort & wellbeing and reduced maintenance issues amongst others. Good performance will mean different things to different people; whatever the metric is, we recognise the importance of quantifying it and improving it.

One of the most important measures of the Performance of a building is its impact on the surrounding environment. The Paris Agreement has introduced a focus on reducing carbon impacts by 2050. Given that 80% of UK buildings that will existing in 2050 have already been built, the Performance Group measures and improves the energy performance of an existing building, in a bid to achieve net zero carbon.

Hoare Lea has joined Tetra Tech’s High Performance Buildings Group, a global alliance of MEP firms, which consists of Cosentini Associates and Glumac in the US, and NDY in Australia,UK and Asia Pacific. This combined resource of around 2,500 like-minded people is unique, providing leading expertise in almost every building type.
