    In this role, you'll be pivotal in managing, transforming, and organising data for consultancy and research projects. You'll provide specialised GIS input, automate workflows through code, and develop software tools, modelling frameworks, web applications, and dashboards. Your expertise will extend to bids, technical contributions, and business development, along with assisting colleagues in GIS software usage, spacial data management and coding.

    Working across a range of critical fields, you will be at the forefront of advancing international solutions in areas such as:

    • Flood hazard modelling, evaluation and management of risk.
    • Hydrology, urban drainage and water quality.
    • Sustainable drainage (SuDS), Natural Flood Management and Property Flood Resilience
    • Adaptation and other solutions to improve resilience to climate change
    • Dam safety, flood defence reliability, and embankment breach modelling
    • Earth Observation, statistical modelling, and numerical emulators
    • Management of valuable water resources

    Key qualifications and skills

    Essential

    • A degree in a STEM-related field.
    • Proven proficiency with GIS software such as QGIS, FME, and ArcGIS.
    • Good theoretical knowledge of GIS and geospatial data concepts.
    • Experience in handling data quality and quality control of outputs
    • Scripting skills in Python or R.

    Desirable

    • Experience in the design of efficient automated data translation and data processing workflows
    • Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) including mapping libraries and frameworks (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers)
    • Experience working with relational databases including database design, writing efficient SQL queries, and importing data from a variety of formats
    • Previous experience in flood modelling and management, coastal management, water resources or urban drainage and an interest in further development of knowledge in these areas
    • Imagination, creativity and a desire to solve problems with geographical data and methods
    • Desktop development in .Net or Java
    • Use of earth observation data and methods
    • Experience of project management, project team management, bidding, and marketing
    • Experience in mentoring and training colleagues

    Benefits

    Our excellent benefits package includes:

    • A salary in the range £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
    • A defined contribution pension scheme with minimum 10% contribution from the employer (on top of which we match your contribution up to a further 5%).
