HR Wallingford is a world-leading research and consultancy organisation. From shipping to flooding, offshore energy to climate change, we advise clients worldwide how to design and manage the water environment.
We are looking to recruit Project Engineer/Scientist to help deliver our growing ship navigation and mooring related work. The successful candidate will join the Ships and Dredging Group at HR Wallingford and take an important role in consultancy and research work. This will involve participating in ship navigation simulation studies, that often use our state of the art ship and tug simulators, and ship mooring studies that may use some of our extensive physical modelling facilities or numerical models.
About the role
The role will require excellent communication skills, underpinned by a technical background in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline. Experience and knowledge of ship navigation, ship mooring and port operations/logistics related work will be an advantage. The role will also provide the opportunity for innovative research and development to support this growing business area.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- A good engineering or scientific degree in a relevant subject
- An ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An interest in research and development in ship related topics.
In addition, the following will be an advantage:
- Data analysis and coding skills (Matlab, Python, .net)
- Knowledge and experience of ship navigation and ship mooring consultancy work.
The successful candidate will be based at our Howbery Park offices near Wallingford, in Oxfordshire, UK.
