Over the course of eight to ten weeks, you'll get to
- Work as part of a dedicated team, focused on specific client groups across corporate and institutional clients
- Experience first-hand how relationship bankers work with teams like Trade Finance, Cash Management, Investment Banking (including Capital Markets, and Markets and Securities Services) to grow client relationships and analyse profitability, risks and other factors involved in transactions
- See for yourself how relationship bankers and broader coverage teams work with product partners and other HSBC functions like Legal, Credit, and Risk
- Learn how we incorporate Environmental, Social and Governance considerations into our client solutions, ranging from sustainable supply chains to raising green bonds
- Take responsibility for researching and understanding clients for the purposes of developing business and managing risk
- Create client presentations for strategic meetings and pitches, prepare credit papers, analyse client information, support strategic reviews and get involved in client planning
- Perform well and you’ll be considered for our Corporate and Institutional Banking Graduate Programme

What you'll learn
We’ll help you develop the technical skills most relevant to your role. We’ll also provide plenty of opportunities to advance your non-technical skills, like relationship management and collaboration, that will help you move your career forward successfully.
During your time on the programme, you’ll
- Be introduced to financial markets so you understand basics like the corporate lifecycle, accounting, financial modelling, valuation fundamentals, equity and debt capital markets, and credit and lending
- Receive training in market data and areas specific to the team you’re working with, such as market data tools (Bloomberg and Reuters terminals), financial regulatory frameworks and HSBC proprietary tools
- Spend time with senior bankers, learning about the different teams and their roles
- Hone your relationship management and presentation skills and develop your understanding of our products and services, as well as your broader market and industry knowledge
- Have plenty of other opportunities to develop your behavioural, cognitive and technical skills, plus people to support you along the way, ensuring you’re well prepared for the future
