The role

This role is a 12-week internship starting in July 2022. Based at our offices in Hinxton, Cambridge. Our program focuses on meaningful project work, professional and personal development, in addition to providing networking opportunities.

Working out of the Bioinformatics Operations and Data Science Team with responsibility for the design and development of the operational data monitoring infrastructure to support ILS operations working closely with Data Scientists, Software Development and the Operational teams at ILS.

Role and responsibilities

  • Work with the operations and data science team to facilitate analytics including data acquisition, transformation and modelling
  • Work with the operations, data science and software teams to develop machine learning tools for generating insights and automating processes
  • Development of data infrastructure for use with reporting tools
  • Assist with improvement events, targeting proactive and preventative actions
  • Work with data sets from current and new platforms to solve complex problems of analytical, computational and integration-related topics

About you

  • Currently studying a Bachelor’s or Masters in Computer science, Bioinformatics or a Scientific course which has included modules in bioinformatics, data analyses or computer science
  • An interest in cancer genomics and clinical applications of genome sequencing.
  • Some experience in programming, ideally Python or R.
  • Experience in next generation sequencing data analysis is advantageous

The Selection Process

  • Submit application before 10th December 2021 to be considered
  • Longlisted candidates will be invited to submit a video application
    • Shortlisted candidates must be available to interview 10th January 2022 onwards
  • Successful Applicants will be invited onsite to meet their teams April 11th, 2022 prior to starting in July 2022
