We are seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse for our small animal general practice based in Kilbarchan.

The role will be varied and include anaesthesia, nurse consults, surgical prep nurse, lab work, inpatient care, imaging, K-laser therapy and assisting with procedures. You will be working alongside a well-established qualified nursing team with a student nurse in addition.

The ideal candidate will be committed to providing quality care to their patients and able to be warm and empathetic towards our clients in times of need.

The role will be across 4 days per week with the usual shift pattern being 8.30am-7pm, but we can be flexible for the right candidate. Our nurses also participate in a Saturday rota working approximately 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 9am-1pm.

About Kilbarchan Veterinary Practice

Kilbarchan Vets has been established over 35 years and is located in the centre of a beautiful leafy conservation village with a strong community feel. There are great transport links with us being close to Glasgow Airport and only 20 minutes’ drive to Glasgow city centre, and 30 minutes from Loch Lomond and the coast. The practice is 5 minutes’ walk from the local park allowing us to make the most of the weather during our lunch breaks.

We have a wide range of modern equipment including up to date Idexx biochemistry and haematology analysers, in house microscope, ultrasound, endoscope, digital x-ray, dental x-rays, blood pressure and capnography, K-laser, fluid pumps, Bair Hugger and oxygen tent.

The building has 3 consulting rooms including a nurse consult room, a newly refurbished waiting room, prep area with tub table, theatre, and a separate lab and pharmacy. We have an enclosed garden at the rear to take our inpatients out to toilet. For staff the upstairs has a staff room and kitchen facility.

Meet our team

As we have been established for so long in Kilbarchan we are lucky to have a lovely, bonded client base and most of our clients are dedicated to the care of their pets and proactive in providing preventative healthcare.

There are 6 Veterinary Surgeons and 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses plus one Student Nurse as well as our Reception team and Practice Manager. Our nursing team are currently undertaking certificates in anaesthesia, surgery and nutrition. We believe we can provide a supportive and friendly environment to any new member of staff, with a practice culture that is open to new ideas and passionate about improving patient care and clinical standards.

We run regular post op complication audits and adjust our protocols accordingly. We are working on improving sustainability in the practice. The nurses hold regular nurse meetings in addition to our full team clinical meetings.
